Costa Rica...Pura Vida!

We decide to go to Costa Rica for our honeymoon since it has been on our travel list for roughly 2 years now and so many people told us it is a great place to go. 

We landed in the San Jose International airport is, which is adjacent to San Jose but not in the city proper. We booked our entire vacation with Costa Rican Vacations, a company that handles booking everything from accommodations to transportation and tours. We were picked up from the airport and transported to our first destination Monteverde where the infamous cloud forest is for a few days of adventure.

 Our first adventure activity was the canopy tour with 100% Adventure. It included breathtaking views and extreme speeds with more than 7 zip lines.

Yep it was awesome at the canopy of the cloud forest.

The last line we did was called the Super Man for obvious reasons. At the time it was pouring rain and we were all completely soaking wet but it view was amazing. The bad part was the breaking system which the guides don't tell you about and scares you to death as you fly head first in a metal platform and trees. It was an amazing experience though!

 La Fortuna and the Arenal Volcano

After Monteverde we traveled to La Fortuna near the Arenal Volcano, just one of Costa Rica's active volcanoes. There were tourists everywhere but not as bad as some of the beach areas. The travelers in La Fortuna were there for one reason...ADVENTURE!

Yep this was the safety talk but honestly the guides really did most of the work while letting us think we were doing it all ourselves.

We were extremely luck to see the volcano clear 3 days in a row as it is only clear very rarely. Usually there are clouds hovering around the peak or at least in the background.

 Walk to the Arenal Volcano

It was a sort walk to this area were there was volcanic rock and the view was just amazing. Funny story, we accidentally got in the wrong van before this tour and almost hijacked someones tour but we eventually ended up with the right group. After this we went to the Hot Springs that are naturally heated by the volcano a must if you are in La Fortuna.

Whitewater Rafting
 One of the funniest things we did in La Fortuna was whitewater rafting. The pictures pretty much speak for themselves.

Tambor and the Pacific Ocean

At the end of our trip we when to the Pacific coast for a little r&r after all the tours. Our hotel was a $30 taxi ride from town so we were pretty much secluded from everything.

However, we did decide to go on another canopy tour one day just to cut the monotony of sitting by the beach and just reading.

In the middle of the tour we got to go to a waterfall and just soak in the surroundings or swim.

 I'm so glad that we went to Costa Rica it is the most amazing country to visit. Not just for the gorgeous beaches and rain forests but the way they have structured tourism makes vacation simple, exciting and relaxing.  I know how could vacation be exciting and relaxing? I'm not sure but in Costa Rica it really is both...Pura Vida!!!
